ALKHOBAR: In a thrilling final match between archrivals, host and defending champion United FC lost its title, as the aggressive Sandford Khalidiyya lifted the USG Boral Soccer 2016 trophy by overcoming the challenge of United Football Club Alkhobar with a consistent performance.
Before a big number of fans for both teams, both teams showed their best in the high intensity match.
After the winners scored two goals the hosts apparently slowed and were unable to convert available opportunities as they missed even a penalty during the match.
Adel Shaheem Al Dossary, dean of Environmental Design from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), was chief guest of the day and handed over the trophy with Maan Zeaiter from Steel Operation USG Boral, the prime sponsor of the tournament.
Ihsan Al Jishi, CEO of Al Taraj Stadium, Abdul Waris, Abdussalam Kanniyan, Rafeek Kootilangadi, Thomas T., Wael Zeaiter, Karim Mansoor, Rasheed Umar, Alikuty Olavtoor, PM Najeeb, K. Varghese and Zaheer Baig distributed the remaining laurels to players who excelled in different positions.

The cash awards were presented by Albin Joseph (Express Money), Muneer (Royal Travels) and Sufyan Ashraf (BPL) to the champion and runner-up teams.
